ECHOLALIA OF SCREENS AND SOUNDS / OPEN SECRET
Two-day exhibition, Wrangel66, Berlin, July 2026.

Echolalia of Screens and Sounds was a two-day exhibition at Wrangel66 in Berlin, built around films from Open Secret. On the first day, twelve short films played on screens spread across the dark room. Their placement worked as a time-based choreography that carried visitors from one story to the next.

A handout asked the audience to pay close attention to feeling and to write down notes. On the second day, these notes became the starting point for a sound installation sculpture with pieces by six sound artists. Both installations ran on a loop, so the films of the first day passed into the sounds of the second.

Open Secret is a touring internet cinema and screening series founded in 2024 by Dana Dawud, a Palestinian artist, writer and curator based in Dubai. It brings short films by artists with strong online practices, many of them known by their usernames, onto a shared screen, so that images usually watched alone on a phone are seen together in a room. The programme has travelled to cities such as New York, London, Hong Kong and Bogotá.
